Route Map
eTRAIL allows you to search a route using three different
methods: "Route map", "Route search"
and "Route list". The "Route map" screen
shows a map of the U.K. with various regions that can be
selected. A short description for each region, along with
the number of trails, is displayed when the cursor is moved
from one region to another. A click on a region will bring
you to the selected route list.
Route
Search
The "Route search" screen allows you to search through
the 200 eTRAIL routes by route id number, OSGB grid reference,
or by one or more region.
Route List
The "Route list" screen shows the comprehensive
route list, which can be sorted in three levels and in both
directions, by difficulty, distance, duration, region and
route id. A click on one list will bring you to the "Route
summary".
Route
Summary
The "Route summary" screen gives an overall view
of the trail (location, peaks, total ascent, type or terrain,
etc.) with corresponding photographs of the specific trail.
Clicking on "Route" under "More information"
brings you to the "Route detail".
Route
Detail
The "Route detail" screen gives a step-by-step description
of the trail, divided in stages. In this screen sample, route
id 121 contains 5 stages. The one displayed is stage 1 of
5. Also on the "Route detail", a "Gradient
profile" diagram is available for reference.
Route Region
The "Route region" screen is accessible with a
click under "Route / More information". This window
shows the location of the trail compared to the rest of
the region and the major roads.
Saving
Routes
Saving routes to your Garmin® GPS unit is quick and easy: with
a click on "Save to GPS" under "More information",
you can easily download the route to Garmin compatible models.
Detailed
Route Map
A click on "Route map / More information" opens
a new window with the display of the route map, showing the
overall route and most meaningful landmarks along and around
the trail. The "Route map" can be printed along
with the route stages simply by clicking on the "Print
/ More information" box.
Guide to GPS &
Dealers
A useful section on how to use the GPS systems and a guide
to the various Garmin GPS outdoor models is also included,
along with a list of the U.K. outdoor dealers.
