Transferring Data to Garmin Connect for the First Time

After you have paired your Garmin device, the first time you transfer data to Garmin Connect, you must complete a Web-based authorization process to allow Garmin ANT Agent to access your Garmin Connect account.

To authorize access to your account:

  1. Follow steps 1-8 in Getting Started.
  2. Check the box to send data to Garmin Connect, and click Continue. The Garmin Connect authorization screen opens in your Internet browser.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to authorize Garmin ANT Agent to upload data to your Garmin Connect account. This requires your Garmin Connect user name and password.
  4. After you have authorized access to your account, close your Internet browser.
  5. Click OK in Garmin ANT Agent to transfer your data to Garmin Connect. A message appears indicating that the data was transferred successfully.
  6. Click the message balloon to view the data in your Garmin Connect account. You can also view the data at http://connect.garmin.com.

After you have authorized access to your account, you can set Garmin ANT Agent to transfer data automatically to Garmin Connect. See the Garmin ANT Agent Help file for more information.

You can manually transfer data to Garmin Connect using the Garmin Communicator Plugin available at http://connect.garmin.com. 

Transferring Data to Garmin Training Center for the First Time

After you have paired your Garmin device, the first time you transfer data to Garmin Training Center, you must add your Garmin device to your user profile.

Garmin Training Center opens automatically when you transfer data.

To add your device to your user profile:

If this is your first time using Garmin Training Center version 3.3 or newer:

  1. The New User dialog box appears.
  2. If you want to add a new user account, check the Add a new device to this account box, and type a user name.
  3. Select the device from the list. Click Find Device if necessary.
  4. Type an optional "nick name" for the device.
  5. If you have used an older version of Garmin Training Center, you can associate the data from an existing account with your new user account. Check the box, and then select the user account you want to associate with your new user account.
  6. Click OK.

If you have previously used Garmin Training Center version 3.3, the Unknown Fitness Device dialog box appears. Select an option, and click OK.

After you have added your device to your user profile, you can click the Receive from Device icon to transfer data to Garmin Training Center.
