This is the new nüvi. Sleek, stylish, yet loaded with new and enhanced Garmin navigation features. A sensitive face
It has a newly designed glass capacitive touchscreen that is bright, clear and more sensitive. It provides multi-touch capabilities that go beyond just pinch-to-zoom. In fact, there are 10 convenient multi-touch commands in all. And it morphs fluidly between horizontal and vertical modes for both driving and walking.

Responds to your voice
You can get a new nüvi with voice-activated navigation. All you have to do is tell it where you want to go and your hands can stay securely on the wheel. Give your new nüvi a name and it will recognize when you're talking to it. It's also an impersonator. Just record someone's voice you would like to hear give you directions and this nuvi will be able to give you turn-by-turn directions* using that person's voice.

Award-winning design
Our goal was to create the thinnest nüvi yet, without compromising performance. In the process, we increased performance and created a very attractive piece of technology.
For years, people talked to their nüvis. Even gave them names. Well, this new nüvi actually recognizes the name you give it and responds to your voice.
Voice Command
Voice command allows you to use your nüvi by speaking the words you see on the screen or by speaking certain commands. The wakeup phrase, or name, is a word or phrase you can say to activate Voice Command. When you speak the wakeup phrase or name you have assigned your nüvi, the Voice Command menu appears. Then speak any selection on the screen, such as "Where To?", or "Volume". There are also Shortcut Commands you can use from any screen.

With voice-activated navigation, you simply speak to this nuvi, tell it where to go, and it will guide you there with turn-by-turn directions that announce street names. You simply listen, your eyes on the road, your hands on the wheel.
ASR/Voice-Activated Navigation
After speaking the "Wakeup" phrase or name you have given your nüvi, it is ready for your spoken command. Simply speak any word or phrase on the screen, such as "Where To?" or "Volume" and listen for the voice prompt before your next command. There are also "Shortcut Commands" you can use from any screen and you can even search for popular places by name.
NOTE: Voice Command feature is available on nüvi 3790T. It is not available in all languages or regions.
You can record the voice of a family member, friend, loved-one, anyone you want onto this nuvi. Then when it gives you directions it will be that voice giving the turn-by-turn directions! However, it won't be able to speak street names.
Voice Studio
To record a special voice and download it to your nüvi, go to Garmin Voice Studio at garmin.com. There, you will receive complete directions on how to record and download the voice you want to hear on your nüvi.
The face of the new nüvi is bright clear and very easy to read. And the icons are large and bold. All of which adds to its extraordinary ease of use.
Easy to use
Touch "Where To" to find a destination. Touch "View Map" to see map and current location. The red "X" icon stops a route. The yellow "arrow sign" icon finds a detour. To make a call when connected to a compatible mobile phone, touch the blue "Phone" icon. The "speaker" icon adjusts the volume. And the "tool box" icon opens the menu of tools and settings.
The screen is so sensitive, you can change the map view on the new nüvi simply by sliding your fingers across it. It responds to the number of fingers and the direction you slide them.
Multi-touch
Sure the new nüvi features pinch-to-zoom. But it also responds to other simple finger taps and drags. In fact, there are 10 convenient multi-touch commands in all. Plus, it has a newly designed glass capacitive touchscreen that is bright, clear and more sensitive.
Even the vehicle mount is new. It features a large built-in speaker making this nüvi even easier to hear. And you can control the volume with your voice.
Enhanced Speaker/Sound
A built-in speaker is included in the back of nüvi that allows you to hear directions while walking. But since it gets noisy in your car, there's a larger, amplified speaker built into the vehicle mount that makes it much easier to hear nüvi give directions while driving.
This nüvi tracks historic traffic flows so it knows when certain routes move along nicely and when they turn into parking lots.

With trafficTrends, your nüvi automatically learns daytime trends for traffic flow to improve your routes and better predict your estimated time of arrival based on time of day and day of week. Get free trafficTrends™ updates every time you connect your device to myGarmin

nüRoute™ technology with myTrends™
With myTrends, when you save your regular destinations in your "Favorites," your nüvi will, over time, begin to recognize where you're going even without your telling it. It provides time of arrival and relevant traffic information. So whether you're driving to and from work or a regularly scheduled weekly event, your nüvi will help you get there in plenty of time.
No one likes zipping across four lanes of traffic to catch a turn or exit. This nüvi shows you which lane to be in for upcoming turns. No surprises.
Lane Assist
Lane assist provides arrows indicating the proper exit lane for complicated highway interchanges so that they are easier to navigate. You'll know which lane to be in well ahead of your exit so you have time to get over to it.
