We have globally recalled our v2009 version BlueChart g2 Vision and g2 data cards. In certain waters, there are inaccuracies and/or omissions in the way that this specific version of charting represents depth contours and depth areas, resulting in the depiction of water depth as deeper than the actual depth under certain display conditions. Changes in our production process caused these issues.
We are aware of specific reports within the waters along the coast of Sweden and Denmark. We have 2 unverified reports of boaters running aground in the Stockholm archipelago.
You should not use BlueChart g2 Vision or g2 data cards dated March 2009 for navigation. To check to see which version of BlueChart g2 Vision or g2 card you have, consult your owner’s manual or call 800-800-1020. You will not need to send in your chartplotters or any other hardware or firmware for repair. Other versions of the cartography are not affected.
If you own v2009 data cards, you will be given a replacement traditional BlueChart card or g2 Vision card v2008.5 (dated July 2008) free of charge. Older versions of BlueChart do not support the additional depth information contained in the 2009 version, and do not have the uniform presentation present in the latest release.
You will also receive the v2009 card free of charge when it is re-released. Contact your retailer, email us or call us at 800-800-1020 for your free replacement.
We apologize for this inconvenience. We are working diligently to ensure you can rely on future versions of BlueChart g2 Vision and g2.
