Our Sponsorship Policy

Garmin is a proud sponsor of many philanthropic organizations such as the United Way, YMCA, American Cancer Society and many other local charities. We also sponsor a vehicle in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and the Craftsman Truck Series as well as a large number of major marathons and triathlons across the country.

While Garmin is already committed to these sponsorships for the coming year, we are always interested in learning about new opportunities that align with our sponsorship and marketing goals.

Sponsorship Proposals

Garmin assesses all potential sponsorship proposals against the following guidelines — please take note of these before filling out the request form.

Timeliness

Although Garmin is interested in learning about all potential opportunities that align with our strategies, we also realize that adequate lead time is important in making our sponsorships a success. All potential sponsorship opportunities should be submitted a minimum of six weeks prior to the event in order to be considered.

Product Placement

Garmin is always looking for new and innovative ways to get our products in front of the consumer — product placement is one of these vehicles we are eager to utilize.

Non-Profit

Garmin is proud to donate to 501(C)(3), tax-exempt, charitable organizations whose ideals align with our mission.

Educational Requests

Garmin works with groups to aid in the education of how GPS works.

Geocaching

Garmin is a strong supporter of the geocaching community.

National

Garmin sponsors events or people with a national presence that will facilitate national activation of a marketing promotion.

Competition

Garmin sponsors national and regional sporting events/races that are professionally organized and offer the ability to reach a large group of people.

Cost and Risk

Garmin will not enter into sponsorships that do not meet the above guidelines or ones that could be classified as dangerous or high-risk. The cost or sponsorship amount of each individual sponsorship opportunity is a factor to be considered in each case when evaluating potential sponsorship opportunities. We must also be able to negotiate an acceptable sponsorship agreement before proceeding with a given sponsorship opportunity.
